Hello Everyone!
This is a long one,
please read so you know what is happening at the SCAC.
Below are
some dates of
upcoming events that are occurring for the Springboro
Community Assistance Center.
There is a
Corn hole tournament
Sunday, May 16, at North Park starting at 2:30, with a
free concert starting at
5:00. This is a family event, so bring the kids.
Also on
Sunday (May 16) there is an opportunity to see
Miss Rachel C. Taylor,
19, of Miamisburg, OH. She has been accepted into the Opera studio program
of AIMS [American Institute of Musical Studies] in Graz, Austria for this
summer. Acceptance was by audition only and she was accepted at the
highest level "without reservation". She will join approximately 350
vocalists, pianists, orchestra members, and eminent international faculty
for 6 weeks of comprehensive and intensive instruction from July 5 - Aug
15, 2010. This will be the 42nd year of this program. See the
folowing link for more information
www.aimsgraz.com
On Sunday, May 16 she will perform at Clearcreek Christian Assembly of
God Church at 1150 S. Main Street (Rte 741) in Springboro at 3:00.
These concerts are free to the public, although donations will be
accepted. The Clearcreek Christian AOG concert will benefit the
Springboro Community Assistance Center.
Some of you might have
seen in the Dayton Daily News that the children at Springboro Junior High
School are planting a garden for us. We will be open on Saturdays when the
food starts to come in from 9-10 a.m. When we know the dates on this
we will let you know. If you have spare time, you are welcome to go to the
garden and help out. We will also inform you of times that people will be
there so you can help. Many of you in the past have wanted to do a garden,
so now is your chance to help, give back, and get your kids involved if
you have them, and have fun!!
We are
partnering with several churches
in our area to be able to help all of you who need help. Some of
them are: Epiphany Lutheran,
United Methodist Church in Springboro, the
South Campus,
Jubilee Church,
SouthWest Church, and Covenant
Presbyterian. As I have stated in the past, the only way we make
this run is thru the churches and donations from the community. We
receive NO help from the government or any other agency. If you
happen to go to one of these churches make sure you thank them for their
support because if it was not for them, there would be no us.
The
Post Office also did a
collection for us last week, so thank your post man!!
Many of the children who help take groceries to
your car are
graduating,
so please let them know you appreciate the help they gave you!
Thanks to all for your support of
SCAC
